School

Mommy and me infant and toddler early sensory learning classes in Hoboken, New Jersey and Waldwick, New Jersey. We focus on sensory play, socialization and American Sign Language. Each session is based on a book. Each class is inspired by a page within the book. Each class is a unique experience for the caregiver and child.

Our Nature school

The Nature School at Hugs & Bugs Club is founded on the belief that children are natural born scientists, motivated to learn in a warm and safe environment through exploration, investigation, discovering and solving problems in an organic way. In a world that is mostly hands off for children, we believe it is their job to touch everything they can get their little fingers on because we know it is essential to their mental development. It is our job to give them a safe place to do so. Our spaces are inspired by nature and sensory development, and designed to provoke the curiosities of our children.

We welcome homeschool pods and families seeking out a play based learning center focusing on social and emotional development.

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

Our curriculum

Our philosophies are inspired by the great need for sensory development and the Reggio Emilia approach, a pedagogy which values the child as strong, capable and resilient. Children are leaders of their own education with the facilitation of our teachers, families, and peers. Each child holds a strong curiosity to learn more about the world around them. At Hugs & Bugs Club, we foster this curiosity and the sense of community. Our curriculum is child-centered, driven by our students’ interests and their desire to know more.

2.5 - 3.5 years old

Our full week program 9am-2pm for children 2.5 - 3.5 years old, provides both integration of play and purposeful teaching focused on building confidence, patience, independence and accountability. It is here where we will deepen the exploration of ideas of the self, nature, science, math, culture, and the creative arts. Their curiosity leads the teachers to design the classes based on the child’s interest and curiosities rather than a strictly academic structure. They learn more when they are intrigued. They learn to troubleshoot and become more independent thinkers, confident in their own capabilities.
